Support group for victims of domestic violence is provided twice per week at secure locations. Victims in different phases of the healing process provide support to one another with respectful discussion in a comfortable environment.
Groups take place on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 and on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30.
A facilitator will lead group discussion of domestic violence, life skills, support systems, and empowerment, to both help victims heal and to prevent future abuse. Domestic violence education will be provided on subjects such as characteristics of abusers, safety planning, red flags and self-awareness.
Concurrent children’s programs take place using age-appropriate activities to help children and youth to understand their home situations and show them positive options in life.
Snacks are provided, and there is also a monthly food give-away for participants. When necessary, local transportation is provided.
